Bussay Pince
MURA
2022
Dr. László Bussay founded the Bussay Winery in the village of Csörnyeföld in Western Hungary in 1989. The Zala region, once famous for its wines, had no notable wineries left in 1989, and the Bussay family was eager to see the potential of both white and red varieties on their estate after the fall of Communism. Today the winery is 5.5 hectares, and László’s daughter Dorottya is the head winemaker.
The Mura is Bussay's flagship red blend, named after the Mura River that gives the Zala region its special sandy soils and wet climate. Spontaneous fermentation and aging in Hungarian oak barrels (500 and 1000 L) for 12 months. From the warm dry 2022 vintage, the Mura is bright, fruity and luscious. Ample blackberry and leather on the nose, with raspberry, currant and apple on the palate.
Merlot (40%), Laska (20%), Cabernet Franc (15%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Pinot Noir (10%).
