Somlói Vándor
FEHÉR NYERSPEZSGŐ
2024
Kis Tamás is making small-production wines from his organic 8-hectare property on Somló. Somló is Hungary’s smallest and most distinctive appellation. Its soils, rich in black basalt and other volcanic minerals, give the wines a distinctively mineral and smoky quality.
Nyerspezsgő is a traditional Hungarian sparkling wine style method. “Nyers” means raw or crude in Hungarian, referring to the fact that the wine is not disgorged.
Somlói Vándor's Brut Nature Fehér Nyerspezsgő 2024 is a methode-traditionnelle sparkling wine made from a blend of Furmint, Tramini and Cserszegi Fűszeres from the Nagy-Somló hill. Fermentation was spontaneous with native yeasts. The Furmint was pressed quickly, while the Tramini-Cserszegi blend remained on the skins after fermentation for 4 weeks. The wines were then blended, and secondary fermentation occurred in bottle. The wine was then aged on the lees in bottle for 5 months before release.
The wine is juicy and fresh, with roses, ripe peach and citrus flavors and nice fine bubbles. Certified organic, vegan, unfiltered, unfined, and not disgorged, with zero sulfur added. Furmint 80%, Tramini 10%, Cserszegi Fűszeres 10%.
