Szent Donát

VOLCANIC SELECTION ROSÉ

2021

Szent Donát is a 15-hectare estate located on the stunning hills that run along the north side of Lake Balaton in Western Hungary. This pale rosé is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Kékfrankos. The grapes are grown on the ancient volcanic soils of the Tihany peninsula, and this volcanic basalt tuff gives the wine a notable minerality and length.

After overnight skin contact, fermentation was spontaneous in stainless steel. The wine remained on the lees for 6 months without stirring, and then remained in bottle for an additional 6 months. The wine is aromatic, with strawberries and black cherries, met with zesty salty citrus on the palate. Certified organic, low sulfur added.

From Wine Enthusiast: “This medium blush-colored wine offers a bouquet of Golden Delicious apple, yellow currant and almond blossom. It is bright at first sip, with flavors of apricot preserves, peach, ground almond and rose petal that evaporate into a zesty, floral-infused finish.” (91 Points, December 2023)
