Lenkey Pincészet
TOKAJI SZAMORDONI
2017
Lenkey's sweet Tokaji Szamorodni hails from shriveled and botrytized grapes from the Betsek, Vilmány, Kishegy, Úrágya, Holdvölgy, and Hegyfarok vineyards in Mád and Bodrogkeresztúr. Grapes were picked by hand in November. The high botrytis content makes the Szamorodni rich and ageworthy.
Flavors like dried apricots, candied melon, celery and spice on the nose, with honey, smoke and tobacco on the palate. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, and aged in Hungarian oak for 1.5 years and in bottle for 2.5 years. Furmint and Hárslevelű. 2109 bottles produced. Certified organic.
Acidity 6.93 g/L, residual sugar 98.1 g/L.
From Wine Enthusiast: “Aromas of ripe summer peach, canned pineapple slices and butterscotch pave the way for pineapple, peach nectar, rosewater and nutmeg flavors with a hint of mint leaf. A soft texture and vivid acidity keep the pleasant sweetness from coming on too strong.” (93 Points, December 2023)
